School House for Sale
By Graham: 705-791-3735 | September 11, 2007

The schoolhouse located in Byng Inlet hosts history and romance. The structure was built in 1903 and has seen the town go from being the second largest lumber mill town, to being a ghost town. The once thriving lumber mill has now all but vanished. The town has been virtually abandoned, but has revived itself into an up and coming tourist and recreational area. At one time The Group of Seven stayed in the white house next door, but now there is only a memory of that time that lingers in the present. Perched on the highest point in town, the school house has and continues to watch over the events that have formed and continue to form the town of Byng.

Byng Inlet and Britt are located at the northern end of Georgian Bay Ontario Canada. This natural deep water port is capable of handling 400 foot freighters. It is one of 3 deep water ports in northern Georgian bay, the other two are Parry Sound and Killarney. Byng Inlet provides an excellent opportunity for large recreational boating. Harbouring in the inlet allows the recreational boater to experience the larger waters of Georgian Bay, and the natural beauty of northern Ontario. The area provides docking, shelter in bad weather and great restaurants. The Sawmill Lodge and Little Britt Inn are renowned for their food. The naturally formed fjord is an enchanting area filled with history.
